Cash-for-votes: Kulkarni, BJP ex-MPs out of jail

New Delhi: All the accused in the cash-for-votes scam including former BJP MPs Fagan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora and LK Advani's former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni walked out of the Tihar jail on Thursday, after they got bail on Wednesday.

After walking out of the jail, Mahaveer Bhagora said, "We never had any kind of problem in the jail. We will decide the future course of action later."

The Delhi High Court had on Wednesday granted bail to the three along with political activist Suhail Hindustani and former aide of MP Amar Singh Sanjeev Saxena in the 2008 cash-for-votes scam.

BJP MP Ashok Argal was granted anticipatory bail in the scam and will participate in the investigation as and when called for.

All the accused were asked to furnish a bond of Rs 2 lakh each.

Opposition MPs were allegedly bribed ahead of July 22, 2008 trust vote and three BJP MPs brandished bribe money in Lok Sabha to expose UPA.

However, The Delhi High Court made it clear that there is no scientific proof of tampering with video or audio of the cash-for-votes scam while grating bail to six accused in the case on Wednesday. Justice ML Mehta also said that there is no prima facie evidence on record of demands and receipt of illegal gratification by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ashok Argal and its former MPs Fagan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora in the case.

Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh was also granted bail in the case earlier in October.
