Europe - Snowfall in Rome after 27 years, 300 die

London: Europe continues to reel under intense cold wave with snow covering Rome after almost 27 years and over 300 people dying.

Rome has experienced its first snowfall since 1985 while the Heathrow Airport of London has cancelled nearly half of its flights due to the harsh weather conditions.

A few Mumbai bound flights were also among those cancellations.

Many people also had to spend the night in cars when traffic was grounded to a halt on roads as snow swamped Britain.

Meanwhile, east Europe continues to be the worst hit with over 300 people dead so far, including 122 from Ukraine itself.

Situation remains serious across Serbia, Romania and Poland as well.
