Pranab to present General Budget on March 16

New Delhi: The dates of Union Budget 2012-13 and Railway Budget 2012-13 have been finalised. While Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will present the Budget on March 16, Railway Budget will be presented on March 14 by Union Minister Dinesh Trivedi. The Economic Survey 2012-13 will be released on 15.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said that dates of the Budget session were finalised at the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) on Monday.

"In the CCPA meeting it has been decided that we will be recommending to the President that the Budget Session be summoned on March 12 and it should continue upto March 30. The address by the President will be on March 12. Railway Budget will be on March 14. The Economic Survey will be on March 15 and General Budget will be presented on March 16," said Bansal.

There will be a short recces and the second part of the Budget Session will be held from April 24 to May 22.

Due to Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa the session, which generally starts in the third week of February, has been delayed. The model code of conduct is in force till March 9 when the election process would be completed.
