New Delhi: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare set 2014 deadline for the government to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill. Anna, who was on a protest fast on Sunday at the Jantar Mantar said that if people supported him, very soon he would force the government to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill.
"Government's intention is not clear on removing corruption and that is why they are not bringing Jan Lokpal Bill," claimed Anna.
Speaking at the Jantar Mantar, Anna also said that the Right to Reject should be allowed.
"We were requesting the government to bring Right to Reject. We will now not go after the government. We now have to use pressure tactics to get the government to respond," said Anna.
The anti-corruption crusader said that his team would join hands with yoga guru Ramdev and they would come out with their next set of plans.
Urging his supporters for a renewed movement, Anna said, "We don't have to sleep now. We have slept enough."
"We want a new law to be brought where before any land acquisition has to be done, then permission of Gram Sabha has to be taken to give farmers their rights," said Anna.
Pointing to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Anna said, "Laluji was concerned about my health, I have to tell him that I am fit to tour the entire nation."
"People haven't realised the strength of a 'Brahamachari's' fast and struggle," said Anna.
Setting a deadline for the government, Anna warned, "By August if FIR's are not filed against tainted ministers then be ready for Jail Bharo Andolan."
Calling for a bigger movement, Anna had earlier said that Team Anna will travel across the country and tell people that the government's version of the bill is "useless". "Twenty-five people who fought against corruption were murdered. We have been stressing on protection of whistleblowers through a law but the government is not ready to do it," Anna said.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Sunday as Anna began his day-long fast demanding justice for slain Madhya Pradesh IPS officer Narendra Kumar and protection for the whistleblowers. The agitation began with a short film screening on the whistleblowers who have been killed during their fight against corruption.
