JKCA scam leaves Farooq Abdullah on backfoot

Srinagar: A multi-crore rupee financial scam in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association has left its President Farooq Abdullah on the backfoot. Sources has accessed documents that reveal how bogus accounts were opened to siphon off funds from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to rough estimates, the Indian cricket board had sent over Rs 30 crore in two years for promotions to the state association.

Two JKCA office-bearers have been asked to step down following charges of their involvement in the alleged embezzlement of funds.

The opposition PDP created a ruckus in the state assembly, demanding that an FIR be registered against Farooq Abdullah, who dismissed it saying that he's written to the BCCI and a probe is on.

"We do not have the actual amount of money. We have to yet find out. We have written it to the BCCI. As far as Mehbooba is saying, she said many things…our motive is to get money back," said Abdullah.
