Mumbai: Ahead of the Jail Bharo movement by Team Anna, the social media is abuzz. Jailchalo has been trending on Twitter and thousands have been registering for it online.
Team Anna’s jailchalo website has seen nearly one lakh registrations in less than 48 hours of its launch. The website, launched on Friday, is already spinning a web of trouble for the ruling UPA government.
Crores of people have already registered themselves for the 'Jail Bharo Movement'. Eventually the numbers are going to swell.
Registering at jailchalo.com is almost like posting a comment on Facebook.
While the number of registrations is surely going to give a big fillip to Team Anna, the bigger question remains whether all those who have registered with the website would actually hit the street?
Social media has been the backbone of the anti-corruption movement. The @janlokpal handle on Twitter which has over one lakh ninety thousand followers. The Facebook page of India Against Corruption helps disseminate information fast and free of cost.
Team Anna member Shivendra said, "During our gherao, a lot of people got information from Facebook and they messaged us… saying we are coming."
The Internet has democratised information flow and after the Jasmine revolution, it is Anna's Jan Lokpal Movement that is now riding the social media wave.
