New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested Andhra Pradesh Principal Secretary (Home) BP Acharya in the Emaar properties case in which the company allegedly got land at nominal rate during late chief minister YS Rajashekhar Reddy government rule in return for favours.
Sources said that the chargesheet is likely to be filed this week. They also added that the top executives of Emaar MGF could be named in it.
Acharya is the third person to be arrested in the Emaar land scam. Two businessmen - Koneru Prasad and Sunil Reddy - were earlier arrested in the case. All the three are considered close to YSR's son Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The allegations are that during YSR's tenure the Andhra government gave land to Emmar at nominal rate and in return government functionaries, film stars got bungalows from Emmar at very cheap rates.
The Emaar deal was signed between the Andhra Pradesh government and Emaar in 2002 during the chief ministership of Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu. The deal was implemented largely during YSR's regime.
