New Delhi: A fire broke out at Apeejay House at Park Street in Kolkata on Sunday. Sources said that ten fire engines were brought to the spot to control the blaze.
However, the cause of the fire is not yet known. The incident took place on the 9th floor of the Apeejay House. One person is reported to be injured in the incident while trying to break the glass window.
Fire services minister Javed Khan, who reached the spot, said that the fire is now under control. A probe will be conducted to know the reasons behind the fire, he said.
Flames were detected around noon at the building housing the office of the city-based diversified business conglomerate Apeejay Surendra Group after which 12 fire tenders were pressed into service, fire brigade officials said.
Incidentally, the building is located near the landmark British-era Stephen Court building, which was devastated by a major fire last year that claimed 43 lives.
