Bengal hit by bandh, Mamata calls it flop show

New Delhi: West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that her government will strongly act against people who are using force to make bandh a success.

"Opposition has used everything to make the bandh a success. Bandh is not the way ahead. It hampers West Bengal's future. CPM has been calling a bandh on the same issue over and over again. Unfortunate that they are spreading lies," she said.

Mamata said that the government staff stayed overnight to ensure that work doesn't suffer.

"We will strongly act against people who are using force to make the bandh a success. First time ever in the history of Bengal, the state government has managed to make the opposition bandh a flop show.

On the rising rape cases, she said, "Fake rape charges are being levelled to malign Bengal's good name. All are fabricated allegations."

In all, 11 trade unions across party lines along with 8 lakh public sector employees with the exception of those in the Railways are participating in the nationwide strike.
