Mumbai: A sloshed female ticket checker (TC) in the Central Railway (CR) has been accused of misbehaving with commuters at Ambernath railway station on Friday night. The primary medical report confirmed that she had consumed liquor. Radha Tomar (34) created a ruckus in a local train and at platform three at Ambernath, commuters said.

According to RPF sources, she was off her duty at 9 pm at Dombivli, when she left for home but halted at Ulhasnagar and consumed alcohol with a friend in a hotel. Later, she boarded a train, and started using vulgar language with commuters as she asked them to show their tickets.

The commuters could smell the alcohol on her. About 11.30 pm at Ambernath railway station, a lady commuter asked her if she was a TC. She shouted back, "Yes, I am a TC! Yes, I am a TC!" A mob gathered round her, and certain of her inebriated state, called the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, who took her to KDMC-run Rukminibai Hospital, Kalyan. The primary medical report said she had consumed liquor. The hospital has sent blood sample to the Forensic Science Laboratory, Kalina. The report is expected in a week.

A resident of Pathare Park, Ambernath, Tomar is posted in Dombivli. Earlier, she was in the RPF. She became a TC some years back. The TC staff and the railway union was opposed to her new posting, but she joined nonetheless. "I came to know about the incident through the media. I am trying to verify the truth. I will reach a conclusion tomorrow," said Onkar Singh, head TTE.

"No FIR has been registered against Tomar. We have sent a detailed report to the railway authority. They will decide on the action," said an RPF officer. "I have heard about incident. But I am out of Mumbai. I cannot comment on the issue," said V Chandrasekhar, senior public relations officer, Central Railway.
