Coimbatore: Over one lakh mobile users have so far switched over to BSNL in Tamil Nadu Telecom circle through number potrability, a top official of Coimbatore Telecom (CBT) said.
Though the number was not that large, considering the 64 lakh mobile customer base, many mobile subscribers preferred to switch over to BSNL, proving that it is gaining momentum in attracting customers from other operators, N Haribabu, Principal General Manager, CBT, told reporters here.
Similarly, BSNL has also maintained 'zero level' surrender of landlines, which was high in the early stages, he said.
On achievements of CBT, Haribabu said it has laid optical fibre upto customers premises and High Speed Internet upto 100 MBps bandwidth was provided in Fibre To The home (FTTH) service, which no other service provider has achieved so far.
Claiming that FTTH would be the future technology, this could be taken to the houses soon, by which the customers can benefit to use voice and data on the same fibre, he said this technology would be cheaper in the long run.
In the 2G expansion, the circle, which has 576 towers, would get 77 more towers soon, Haribabu said.
