Manmohan Singh in Seoul to attend Nuclear Security Summit

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is in South Korean capital Seoul to attend the Nuclear Security Summit on Sunday.

But it's the meetings on the sidelines which we'll be watching out for - the PM is expected to meet his Italian counterpart Mario Monti to discuss the arrest of two Italian marines in Kerala and the abduction of Italian nationals by Naxals.

Singh will also meet Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg to discuss the custody row over the two NRI children. Singh is also likely to meet Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

India-Italy ties have been strained ever since two Italian marines on board a cargo vessel shot dead two fishermen off the Kerala coast last month, mistaking them to be pirates.

The marines are currently in jail in Kerala, with the Indian government saying they would be tried under Indian laws. Italy says the marines should be tried under international laws as the incident occurred in international waters.

The issue of two Indian children who have been taken into foster care in Norway has turned particularly messy with their father making known his intention to divorce his wife on grounds of harassment and their uncle backtracking from taking custody of them.

The nuke summit will be attended by heads and CEOs from 45 countries, including US President Barack Obama.
