Allahabad | Blast in slum, 5 killed, 15 injured

Allahabad: An explosion took place at a slum cluster in Allahabad on Wednesday afternoon, killing at least five people and injuring over 15 others. Around six people are said to be seriously injured in the blast which took place in the Kareli slums.

According to reports, most of the deceased are children. An eyewitness said that several children were playing near a garbage dump when the blast took place. He said that the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Police personnel rushed to the spot following the explosion. The nature of the explosive device could not be ascertained yet.

An high alert has been sounded in the city and senior police officials are investigating the blast.
