Mumbai | Woman delivers baby boy in train

Mumbai: A woman from Ambivali gave a birth to a baby boy in a local train near Kalyan on Saturday evening.

An eyewitness, who was travelling in the same local, said that Nitu Jaiswal (26) boarded a CST-bound train in Ambivali at around 5.40 pm with her husband, Virendra (29), and daughter, Sonali (4). The family was going to Sion hospital when Nitu started having labour pain in the train.

Virendra immediately took her to a corner of the compartment and asked her to exert pressure to deliver the baby. After some time, Nitu gave a birth to a boy.

Co-passengers rushed Nitu and her baby to a nearby hospital when the train stopped at Kalyan station. The eyewitness said, "As the local stopped at Kalyan we informed a lady constable, who helped us to admit Nitu to Rukmini hospital where doctors declared that both mother and baby were safe."
