Reimagining the NY skyline, rebuilding WTC

New York: It's a re-imagining of the famed Manhattan skyline. Slowly but surely, after years of construction, recovering from the devastation of the September 11 attacks. 4 World Trade Center is expected to open for business in 2013, that will be 12 years since 9/11.

As we come upon the eleventh years since the attacks, it's a concrete achievement as much as a symbolic one, restoring - as some would say New York's skyline.

It's not construction crews so much as media crews swarming around on this day, that's meant to showcase the results of four4 years of labour.

In totality, 977 feet in height, this building will be dwarfed by 1 World Trade Center - the tallest skyscraper in these parts, that will boast 105 floors when it's finished. Outside the window, the 9/11 memorial is a sombre reminder with two pools where the Twin Towers used to stand.

Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Silverstein Properties Dara Mcquillan said, "New WTC is New York showing off its best architecture, transport, neighbourhood. We've created the best of New York - better possibly than before 9/11, but a symbol of where we're headed."

This is lower Manhattan after all, nothing is quite what you'd expect. Nestled away from the furious construction, dwarfed by skyscrapers, let's just say, the Buddha of suburbia.
